Crono GTK theme

Crono GTK theme is my first dark style for the Murrine engine. It requires the latest Murrine engine and the Pixbuf engine for the panel. Forms on some websites are styled with the widgets from the theme and can cause some visual trouble. You can fix this by using global or site-specific userstyles (CSS) in [...]

Desktop designing – Consistency and minimalism

Desktop designing doesn’t seem to be an easy job for some people when they combine a horribly bulky theme with an extremely distractive wallpaper and some ugly icons on top of that. Maybe it’s my lack of understanding when I see some of these desktop screenshots, but in my world I can’t imagine how anyone [...]

Possible replacement for the panels in Gnome?

Gnome-Do Docky does have potential to become a great replacement for the panels in Gnome. Use a keystroke to open the search feature for quick access to installed applications and documents, or use it as a simple dock. I’ve made a little concept design on how I would like it to behave. It just needs [...]

Participatory Culture

Open source art is nothing new, it does already exist. But why would you open up something that you have created? You do have a choice when you create something. You can either close it, watermark it and angerly pursue everyone who uses it for something. See the big media companies and the participatory culture [...]

Installing a minimal Ubuntu installation with a minimal Gnome desktop

Don’t mind my old guide, this one will explain it a bit better. If you’re like me and don’t like all the software Ubuntu comes with by default you can install a minimal base system without any extra software like OpenOffice, Evolution, Gnome Games for example. You could also install Debian only if you prefer [...]

Site up and running again?

Hopefully I can write something this time before I get tired, and hopefully I won’t get tired. If I know me right I think I may write some simple articles and then forget about this journal again. Never mind about that though, what about this design? It’s simple and doesn’t really stand out or anything, [...]

Installing a minimal Ubuntu installation

Updated article here – http://linuxuser.se/~lassekongo83/2009/05/installing-a-minimal-ubuntu-installation-with-a-minimal-gnome-desktop/
Do you also think that Ubuntu feels bloated and slow? It comes with too many packages and services that runs in the background. I for example don’t need a bluetooth service running in the background, and I don’t need anything that recognizes printers either. So what can be done about this?

Why I don’t use Vista and never will

Is there a reason why I’m not using Vista? Yes ofcourse there is. XP is so fast and stable right now that I don’t have the need for Vista. XP just works for everything I’m doing. And why will I not use Vista in the future? It costs, I’m not playing any games that requires [...]
